A Healing Heart by Angela Breidenbach

A workaholic woman must trust her business
to the one man who tried to destroy it when she suffers a heart attack. Mara Keegan is an uber-successful mother and a widow of
three years. She’s been chasing success and all the “good things in
life” for her family to make up for the cruel whim God played on them by
taking her husband. In an effort to be the perfect mom, she decides to
make a photo memory quilt, a graduation present for her daughter,
Cadence.

She’s not yet finished when she experiences a heart
attack. While Mara recuperates, she revisits the choices she’s made that
led to this physically and spiritually broken heart. The memory quilt
must be finished in time for Cadence’s big day, but Mara struggles with
her burgeoning feelings for the man who must keep Mara’s business going during her recovery, Joel Ryan. Can Joel find his way into Mara’s heart and onto Cadence’s quilt?

Threes, Sixes & Thieves

Julie B Cosgrove

Prism/Pelican Book Group

ISBN-13: 978-1522397540

Today, the third book in the Bunco Biddies Mystery Series releases.

When thieves target homes in Sunset Acres, the Bunco Biddies help the police nab the thief!
But in the mayhem, no one knows who the arresting officer was…
or where he is.
A new mystery to solve!

Threes, Sixes & Thieves once again finds Janie Manson, the widow of a renowned police detective who lives in the retirement community of Sunset Acres, rallies her Bunco playing friends to help stop crime.

Sunset Acres is located on the outskirts of Alamoville, a small town which is growing by leaps and bounds as people escape the stress of big city life. Unfortunately crime comes with the urban flight. Janie’s son-in-law is now the Chief Detective of an over-taxed and understaffed police force and she wants him to be able to go on vacation with her daughter and grandkids. Besides, she and her Bunco playing fellow residents know more about their community that the cops do.

The first book, Dumpster Dicing, recently won Best Cozy Mystery 2017 by the Texas Association of Authors.  Baby Bunco followed it, and a fourth book, Until Dice Do Us Part, launches in 2018.

Explaining how the title came about, author Julie B Cosgrove says that in the game of Bunco, whoever roles three sixes ends the game. However, naming a faith-based book The Three Sixes didn’t exactly sit well with her publisher. So they came up with the current title.

All of the book titles have a Bunco dice theme. Afterall, sleuthing can get dicey!

Vindicating the Vixens: Revisiting Sexualized, Vilified, and Marginalized Women of the Bible

by Sandra Glahn

Kregel Academic, November 2017

ISBN0-13: 978-082544413

Book description:

Did the Samaritan woman really divorce five husbands in a world in which women rarely divorced even one? Did Bathsheba seduce King David by bathing in the nude? Was Mary Magdalene really a reformed prostitute? While many have written studies of the women in the Bible, Vindicating the Vixens: Revisiting Sexualized, Vilified, and Marginalized Women of the Bible is a new kind of book—one in which a diverse team of male and female scholars look afresh at women in the Bible whose stories we have misunderstood. The result is a new glimpse into God’s heart for anyone, male or female, who has limited social power.  (Profits from this work benefit the International Justice Mission.)
