"Author,

“Did you want a four or a seven-day Caribbean cruise?” the travel agent asked.

What a choice. Even one day on that luxurious cruise ship is enough to make me salivate with excitement. But recently, unfortunate cruising events broadcasted by the media brought that thrill a notch down.

Many feel pity for those passengers who found a nice cruise turn to a crazy nightmare. But when sailing in our own ship to success, the fate isn’t much different.

Glitches happen. Disappointments make the ocean waters a bit rough. And unexpected storms while working toward deadlines threaten to drown us.

And as the cool and collected authors and speakers that we are, we react the same way as the disciples. We fret. And with shaky hands, we dash to wake Jesus, asking Him for protection and safety.

But to our surprise, Jesus offers neither words of comfort, nor tender expressions of reassurance. Instead, He answers back, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” (Matthew 8:25).

Gulp. Were the disciples blushing by now? Maybe so, but then Jesus took action. “Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm” (Matthew 8:26).

Can you almost hear Him say those words to us right now? His challenge is clear—where is our faith?

When facing those rough moments that create a storm inside, and when caught in the middle of the winds of anxiety and stress, where is our faith? We know the answer. And we also know the One who gives it. So when riding in the boat to success, no matter what storms threaten or how rough the waters get, Jesus rides with us. He has the power to calm the waters, to brush peace in our soul, and to take us sailing to the shore of success.
