Don’t Bite the Doctor is contemporary, humorous Christian fiction.

Don't Bite the Doctor by Ellen FannonReal doctors treat more than one species. That’s what veterinarian, Jill Bennet believes. On any given day, she may doctor dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, horses, pigs, or any other furry/feathered patient who crosses her path—striving to deliver compassion and competence to all God’s creatures. Now, after forty years, Jill reflects back to when she was a new, young veterinarian, when women were just beginning to become a presence among the previously male-dominated profession. Out in the real world, Jill finds herself in situations never covered in veterinary school. It is a journey of learning and laughter, as Jill contends with a variety of animal patients and their eclectic humans, as well as less-than-helpful co-workers. Interwoven into this mix is her budding romance with the owner of the sock-eating Labrador. Don’t Bite the Doctor promises to bring smiles and tears to anyone who has ever been owned by an animal.

Book Review:

While you, and especially your pet, shouldn’t bite a vet (who, yes, is a real doctor), you definitely should read this witty and entertaining book. Drawing on her decades of experience, real life vet and author Ellen Fannon, has penned a fictional account of the trials and tribulations of a new vet, Dr. Jill Bennett, in a small Florida town. And she doesn’t just treat dogs and cats. Dr. Bennett helps deliver piglets, vaccinates macaws, and euthanizes monkeys. But properly treating animals isn’t her only challenge. There are demanding pet owners, an insolent vet staff member, and a frequently AWOL boss thrown in the mix. Fannon’s book will keep you laughing, perhaps out loud like I did, open your eyes to the world of vets, teach you some things about animals, and warm your heart with a sweet romance.

I love Ellen’s dry wit. This book is a delightful way to leave the troubles of the world (and too much screen time) behind. A definite lift to your spirits!
