Hola from Janet Perez Eckles…Igniting Your Passion to Overcome
Sometimes a perfect ending to a Sunday is a relaxing bath.
As I headed to the tub, hubby gripped my arm. “Whoa, stand right there,” he said, “got a visitor.”
A lizard had wiggled itself inside the bathroom and made our bathtub his playground. No big deal. In Florida, lizards slither under screen doors and squeeze through any crack. They’re as common as eighty-degree weather in December.
With full confidence, I stood still, waiting while hubby chased the skinny intruder. Then, he trapped it and with one quick scoop, he lifted it in the air and released it outside.
Once again, he proved to be my hero.
But when lizards of problems slither in my life, I forge ahead to battle them on my own. The struggle is fierce because I’m hindered by frustration, impatience and foolish pride. Admitting my futility, in my mind, the lizard becomes a huge alligator, threatening to eat me alive.
We all do that sometimes, don’t we? We try to fight intruders on our own. And we only win when wisdom appears, then we call upon God and count on His power. And while we’re still, very still, we simply wait.
That’s when His Word guides our thinking, stops our fears and traps our anxiety.
From now on when problems come, we stop, watch and wait because, “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14)
What keeps you from being still these days?
