Sherry Kyle
Hey, this is Sherry Kyle writing from my laptop on my kitchen table as I drink my morning coffee.  As I pondered what to write, I glanced at my mug and was struck by how two little words could have so much impact. Write Anyway!  Yes, that is the slogan printed across my cup.

There are so many distractions keeping us from placing our fingers on the keyboard—family responsibilities, chores, friendships, etc. I’m sure your list is as long as mine. Sheesh! How can we get that manuscript complete with so many things pulling us in different directions?

Write Anyway!

But how?

Turn off your social network sites for a while. (Gasp!)

Order pizza for dinner.

Ask your children to help with the chores.

Gather ideas when you’re out and about running errands.

Tell your family that you need to write 1,000 words before you’ll come out of your office, unless of course they are bleeding, or dying. (This one works for me!)

You get the idea. I’m sure you have plenty of other ideas to help you meet your writing goals.

Honestly, I didn’t know if I would be able to write a blog today. My mother-in-law passed away a week ago, and I’ve had family in town ever since. Tomorrow I head to a writer’s retreat for a few days.

But I glanced at my mug and decided to write anyway!

You can do it too!

I love your post! So often that’s what I’ve had to do.If I can’t focus on what I’m suppose to write I just open a window and dump out what’s on my mind. Once that’s emptied my mind is no longer distracting me and I focus on the real task at hand (though sometimes the mind dump leads to new ideas I toss into my idea folder)

What a great word picture—open a window and dump what’s on my mind! LOVE it! You sound a lot like me. My mind whirls and it’s good to empty it every once in a while! (Hey, that’s also called prayer! We need to give everything to Jesus and He’ll take care of the rest!) Thanks for sharing, Karen!

Great post, thanks! I know there is a lot of truth in those two words… there are no excuses NOT to write if that is what you desire to do!
