Happy New Year from Sarah Sundin in California! Today we usher in 2019 by chatting with relationship and personality expert Linda Goldfarb. As a novelist who loves using exploring personality types to craft my characters, I’m fascinated by what Linda has to share with us today! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it too.
Linda, tell us about your latest book.
LINKED for Educators helps busy teachers understand how to accept and celebrate different personalities in the classroom instead of being overwhelmed by them.
This super succinct guide equips educators with practical and readily applicable communication and interaction strategies to recognize, respond, and capitalize on the strength of each student. Personality assessment included in each guide.
What is the primary focus of your book?
Think about the challenges facing our teachers today. Overcrowded classrooms, limited quality time with students, high expectations to produce high achieving individuals for the future workforce in the world –no pressure, right? LINKED for Educators provides busy teachers with a concise and practical means to help each student excel in the classroom, no matter their differences, strengths, or weaknesses.
That sounds so useful! How has God used the message of your book in your own life?
Discovering how He designed me to be exactly who I am, a Mobilizer/Socializer and why the other Mobilizers, Socializers, Stabilizers, and Organizers in my life do what they do and why they do it has transformed my way of thinking about myself and other people. It produced a positive ripple affect in my relationships at home, how I interact with coaching clients, and how I treat everyone else I encounter on a daily basis.
What themes do you return to again and again in your writing?
The value and power of relationship is my common thread. I’m that girl; the one who brings everything back to relationship number one – Jesus the Christ. Whether training parents, coaching professional women, or writing inspirational posts, I’m all about relationships.
Why do you love writing?
It’s a visually memorable imprint. There’s something about seeing the written word over hearing it being read. My eyes like to dance over the sentences, looking for the rhythm or heartbeat within it. I stand amazed at times, in those moments when I read something I put on paper realizing immediately, it wasn’t me who wrote it at all—God’s like that, isn’t He?
He certainly is! Why do you write what you write, Linda?
I write about personalities because my life was dramatically changed in my understanding of them. Every relationship I have has prospered because I understand others and myself at a deeper level. And I want everyone to experience the same.
Tell us about your most touching moment with a reader.
A couple in my parenting class, PAK, came to me this year and said they were experiencing more intimacy with each other and with the Lord. As parents of young children they had become overwhelmed by the fast pace of life ignoring the relationships within their home. Understanding their personalities, how God designed them, has changed everything. Praise the Lord!
That’s wonderful! What ministries are you involved in, and why?
My passions are working with parents, teaching the personalities, and encouraging personal growth in my coaching clients. Parenting Awesome Kids is my six-year-old ministry founded in San Antonio, TX. My husband, Sam, and I teach alongside, helping parents grow families steeped in Truth. We have four adult children and many grandchildren; God has placed us where we are to come alongside these parents in order to share His word as the way to raise our children. As parents we are not truth, so, we point to Him as our source.
Do you have a “day job” or a previous career? Does it influence what or how you write?
I have several income producing offshoots in my life. I have traveled internationally as a speaker and as a professional actress with a touring children’s theatre. These two opportunities continue to supply fodder for my writing. I believe life experience has no comparison for a writer. As a speaker, my topics are what I write about and vice versa, what I write about becomes a speaking topic—a true hand in glove relationship. My acting career helps with character development in my writing. I’m also a board certified Christian life coach; needless to say, my writing produces helps for my clients, to encourage forward motion based n biblical truth.
What great experiences! Please tell us about your next project.
