Jeanette Hanscome
Jeanette Hanscome is an author, writing teacher, and speaker from the San Francisco Bay Area. Her newest book, Suddenly Single Mom: 52 Messages of Hope, Grace, and Promise, published by Worthy Inspired, is her first devotional for women after many years of writing for teen girls and tweens.
She is the author of four other books, one short fiction eBook, and over 400 articles, devotions, and stories. Jeanette is a regular contributor to Encounter—the Magazine. Her work has appeared in Walk Thru the Bible’s Tapestry, LifeWay’s Journey, Guideposts, and many other publications. Running with Roselle, her middle-grade book co-authored with blind 9/11 survivor Michael Hingson, continues to receive encouraging feedback from both kids and adults. She also had the fun of contributing stories to Kathy Ide’s Fiction Lover’s Devotionals 21 Days of Grace and 21 Days of Love.
Much of Jeanette’s writing and speaking flows from her unique perspective as a woman who has been visually impaired since birth. She was born with Achromatopsia, a rare eye disease that causes complete colorblindness, extremely light sensitivity, low vision, and an inability to drive. This has not stopped her from being an avid book nerd, loving to knit and crochet, and enjoying an activity-filled life that includes singing at church, teaching writing workshops whenever possible, and being the mom of two incredible sons.
