Maisie Discovers Her Fingerprint (© Oct.1st 2024, Ambassador International Publisher, STEM, SEL) is a picture book for kids 3–8 about a cute Frenchie who just wants to feel special! She isn’t accepted by her doggie friends because she can’t swim well like they can and she never gets invited to their doggie sleepovers because she snores so loudly. Kids will identify with Maisie as she seeks out what makes her unique and special. She visits the zoo to find out if she has unique fingerprints like humans do. Her friends at the zoo tell her that dogs don’t have fingerprints–they just have paws! But Maisie discovers she does have a unique fingerprint. It’s just not on her paws–do you know where it is? Kids will have fun discovering unique facts about dogs and other animals. There’s additional back matter in the book with more fun facts about fingerprints. There’s also a free, downloadable activity packet on the author’s website: https://sandrakaychambers.com.

Book Review: Maisie Discovers Her Fingerprint:

Maisie Discovers Her Fingerprint blends charm with heartfelt lessons. Kids ages 3-8 will fall in love with Maisie, a French bulldog who just wants to feel special so she can fit in with her doggie friends. Maisie’s journey to discover what makes her unique unfolds through an engaging narrative filled with playful repetition. Through a journey to the zoo to talk with her animal friends, Maisie learns about the uniqueness of fingerprints in humans, chimps, koalas, and other animals. Maisie’s eventual discovery of her unique feature is both touching and inspiring. The repetitive text and lovely illustrations make this book a perfect read for young children. It will help them understand and celebrate their individuality while appreciating the specialness in others.
