While you, and especially your pet, shouldn’t bite a vet (who, yes, is a real doctor), you definitely should read this witty and entertaining book. Drawing on her decades of experience, real life vet and author Ellen Fannon, has penned a fictional account of the trials and tribulations of a new vet, Dr. Jill Bennett, in a small Florida town. And she doesn’t just treat dogs and cats. Dr. Bennett helps deliver piglets, vaccinates macaws, and euthanizes monkeys. But properly treating animals isn’t her only challenge. There are demanding pet owners, an insolent vet staff member, and a frequently AWOL boss thrown in the mix. Fannon’s book will keep you laughing, perhaps out loud like I did, open your eyes to the world of vets, teach you some things about animals, and warm your heart with a sweet romance.
