Filled with Fear or Firm in Faith?
, by adminSometimes it’s a pleasant surprise. In the midst of writing and heading to speaking engagements, God whispers a call to a different task. Mine was a mission trip to Bolivia and Peru. A special visit in many ways for me as Bolivia happens to be my birthplace. The weather was beautiful. A shower of blessing upon blessing poured upon me. And the folks whom I ministered to shined joy into my days. But in the middle of doing good work, a bad glitch appeared.
Speaking Engagements – Research Venues
, by adminHi. Winnie Griggs here, with the next installment in my posts about speaking engagements. To read previous installments, see the links at the bottom of this post. Before we talk about research venues, let’s discuss the different types of talks you might be called on to present. I categorize these in four groupings as follows:
Speaking Engagements – Pitching Your Program
, by adminHi. Winnie Griggs here, with the next installment in my posts about speaking engagements. So far we’ve covered why book speaking engagements, dealing with butterflies, selecting a topic, creating a speaker resume and finding speaking venues. Today we’re going to talk about how to actually pitch your talk. Speaking Engagements – Creating A Speaker Resume
, by adminHi. Winnie Griggs here again with the next installment in my posts about speaking engagements. So far we’ve covered why book speaking engagements, dealing with butterflies and selecting a topic. Today we’re going to talk about creating your speaker’s resume. Why is that necessary? Well a speaker resume is a great tool for growing your opportunities to secure better speaking engagements. And coordinators for conferences and workshops, who often get flooded with applications and proposals, will use this document to evaluate the potential speakers against each others and against their particular needs. This may be the ONLY tool they use…
SELF-PUBLISHERS AND PIRANHAS (Part I)
, by adminWelcome to the CAN Blog on this wintering morning in Michigan. Hi from Gail Gaymer Martin @ www.gailmartin.com This excellent article by James N. Watkins appeared a while ago in his newsletter. I asked him if I could share it with you, and he had no problem with that. I’m glad because every writer who considers self-publishing needs to be aware of the scams and poor choices they can make. Since this is a long article I will beginning and continue with a link so you can read it all. The next article will continue with Jim’s thoughts on the…
Speaking Engagements – Why Bother?
, by adminHi. Winnie Griggs here. Over the next several months I’m going to be posting about speaking engagements – why seek them out, how to get booked, what to speak about, etc. Since my personal experience with this subject is in speaking to groups of writers, that’s going to be my main focus. However, much of this will translate to other type speaking engagements as well.
Thriving Through the Holidays
, by adminJan here, hoping to offer a few encouraging thoughts and ideas to help you as writers thrive through the approaching holidays. The past five or more years, I’ve headed into the Christmas season with either book deadlines or December speaking engagements (or both). I loved the work and ministry involved, but it made an already busy season extra busy. In some ways, I approached it by doing what I could to survive and get through to other side. I want to do it differently from now on. How about you? There’s the usual excitement and activity of the season, the family events and traditions…
