Marketing Lessons Learned in the Middle of a Boat Ride

, by

Pamela S. Meyers here with another post about book marketing. Since last March I’ve been on a promotion blitz for my April 1 release, Love Finds You in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, a historical romance set in one of the most beautiful vacation spots in Wisconsin. I’ve held speaking and signing engagements, given a slideshow presentation on the history of my setting at a museum, a library and even a retirement home. I’ve also held speaking and signing events, and much more. Last March, I visited the gift shop run by the boat company that gives guided tours of the lake….

Cheering Each Other Onward

, by

Aloha from Karen, I’m wearing a crown to celebrate my new release: The One Year My Princess Devotions. I’m thankful for CAN as part of the team that helps me spread the word on new books like this one with retweeting my appearances, having me guest blog, and some group activities that include speaking and signing books at a retailer event. Being part of a group is valuable in marketing. There’s so much competition with books that it helps to be part of a team. That’s what makes CAN work well, but you can also assemble your own team. Last…

Musing From a Tired Marketer

, by

I sat down to write this month’s post and realized I’m tired of marketing. Some of you may find it shocking that I’d admit to that in writing. On the other hand, some of you may find it refreshing, even burden-lightening. I hope it is the later. Don’t worry, I’m not throwing in the towel, but there are a few things I’ve learned from being in this familiar place.

Lessons Learned – Follow a Checklist Before Every Event

, by

Hi everyone! Pamela S. Meyers here. I’m sure you’ve all had times when the best laid plans…well you know the old cliche. I had one of those days last week, but I learned some critical lessons how to make sure your planned promotional event goes off without a hitch. I had a scheduled speaking and signing event to promote my book, Love Finds You in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. This was an afternoon I had been looking forward to since it was in a unique setting – A retirement home. Little did I know how much this event would turn out…

CAN members attended the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in St Louis in late June. That's the place where the industry meets-publishers, editors, authors, and especially retailers gather and interact! CAN members shared a power point presentation on successful author in-store events and held a drawing for CAN authored books (gave away over $1600 in books to two retailers at the show). This photo shows a retailer from Nigeria with CAN members. She was one of the winners.

Becoming a ‘Subtle’ Expert

, by

Cheri Cowell here: Do you consider yourself an expert? Last month I shared places where we can hang our ‘expert shingle.’ These were more traditional ways of being seen as an expert. This month I want to talk to you about a more subtle way to share your expert status. In today’s world this approach may win more fans than you can sign autographs for.

Getting Your Publisher on Your Marketing Team

, by

I’ve heard for so long “Don’t expect your publisher to really help market your book” and “My publisher did zip to sell the book,” but that has not been my experience.  I have found they will team with you and get behind your ideas. Few create complete campaigns but it’s amazing what they’ll do if you are open and creative.

Launch Parties Are Even More Fun the Second Time Around!

, by

Hi Everyone! Pamela S. Meyers here with another post on promoting your book. I’m currently in the midst of marketing my latest release, so that’s what I’m writing about this month.   My historical romance, Love Finds You in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin’s original release date was in April, and months ago I scheduled a launch event at the Geneva Lake Museum in Lake Geneva for Saturday, April 27th. That’s me in the picture signing books at the event. Early on I made out my to-do list.  Prepare a slideshow (PowerPoint) presentation on my personal history with the town and…
